It's a term coined by Rick Allen - the most talented drummer for Def Leppard - when he saw one of my cameras and
the nickname has stuck.

Rick was signing and admiring a photograph of himself that I had taken at a Def Leppard concert.  Rick thought he
knew why the picture was good - the "Big Ass Camera" that I had hanging around my neck.

Rick was wrong.

Yes, I do have a "Big Ass Camera" and yes, I've taken photos at Def Leppard concerts.

But, I've never been allowed to use my "Big Ass Camera" to shoot a Def Leppard concert.  I want to.  But, to use my
"Big Ass Camera" - which is considered a 'professional' camera - I need a photo pass.  I've never managed to obtain a
photo pass for a Def Leppard concert.  I've tried, it's just never happened.  I have been turned down by the band's
management company, a promotions company and just about everyone else in the Leppard camp.

So, like most fans, I'm shooting Def Leppard concerts with an inexpensive "point-n-shoot" camera.

Frustrated by what I see as the Leppard camp's short-sightedness in regards to my "Big Ass Camera," I've focused my
energies on shooting other bands.

And there have been several that I've been allowed to shoot with the "Big Ass Camera" ...

Slaughter,
Shaw/Blades
Bombay Black
Sharpe Dunaway & the Blue Meanies
LA Guns
Marty Casey
Skid Row
Bret Michaels
Eden Crow
